I Made The Banned Doritos Commercial! Here’s How You Can Too!

Anyone who’s spent even a few minutes on the Internet has probably seen an ad for Doritos or another snack brand featuring a hidden message. In the case of Doritos, that message is “Crash the Super Bowl” to get your hands on some of their spicy goodness. Unfortunately for them, many people have tried to break that code and so far no one has been successful. But don’t worry, just keep trying! It might not be fair that you can’t enjoy snacks, but they did make it easy on you by making BAN THE DORITOS COMMERCIAL super easy too.
In this article we will show you how you can make your own homemade version of Crash the Super Bowl – with only a few simple supplies. We will also give you instructions on how to market your own snack product and brand it as “Banned from NBC Super Bowl Ad Contest” in order to increase sales further.

What is “Crash The Super Bowl”?

In 2014, a Doritos commercial aired during the Super Bowl for their new product launch. The ad was the first to feature a hidden message that would only be revealed when it was played backwards. The commercial encourages viewers to visit the website crashthesuperbowl.com and use the clues on how to decode the message which would give them a chance to win $10,000.
The contest ended up going viral and caused many people to compete in an attempt to decode what they thought was a secret code. But after much speculation, no one has been able to crack the mystery of what the hidden message is.

How to Make Banned Super Bowl Snack Commercials

Banned from NBC Super Bowl Ad Contest
Doritos: Crash the Super Bowl
– 1/3 cup honey
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup oats (use gluten free if necessary)
– 1/4 cup raisins
– 1/4 cup crushed almonds (optional)
– 4 tablespoons of butter, softened and divided into 4 equal portions. One quart size zip top bag will do. You can also use margarine or coconut oil as well.

Step 1: Draw the Dorito Logo

First, you will need to draw the logo on a square of paper. Because the Doritos commercial is primarily black and white, it’s easier to create your own version than try and match theirs. You’ll also need a few pieces of string, a lighter, a pencil or pen, and a piece of paper that has been cut in half to make two identical halves.

Step 2: Write Your Message

You’ll need to write your own message in order to make this project a success. You can use our guide as a reference for what to do:

Step 1: Gather Supplies
* A bottle or bag of any type of chips
* A piece of paper (any size)
* Sharpie pen
* Any type of food coloring (blue, green, etc.)
* Any type of candy sprinkles that you want to use
* Mouth sprayer (optional)

Step 3: Make and Distribute M&Ms Or Other Candy

First, you’ll need to make the M&M’s or other candy that you’ll be marketing. You could make a batch of M&Ms, but if you want to make something different, like chocolate covered pretzels, then go for it. Once you’re done, put them in a bag and place this bag inside another bag on a shelf in your kitchen.
Next, find an image of some Super Bowl ads – not one from Doritos – and upload it to your computer or tablet.
Lastly, type the word “Banned” over the top of the image, then print out the image onto paper and cut it out.
Now, take one of your bags with the homemade M&M’s and place them inside of the image that you just printed out.
#1: Take a picture of your finished product! This can be as simple as taking a selfie with your creation like I did below!
#2: Share this picture on social media with the hashtag #bannedfromNBCSuperBowlAdContest
#3: Sell these snacks at local events or markets like farmers markets or flea markets!

We all know the Super Bowl is a huge marketing opportunity, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get your message out.
To make a commercial that will actually get you noticed during the Super Bowl, you need to employ a few unconventional tactics.
First, promote your idea through social media and online communities like Reddit, 4chan and Facebook. Second, create a viral video that gets shared all over the internet. Finally, enlist the help of friends and family to help create and distribute your treats.
